Dr Steve Paul Manjaly is a Physician and a specialist for older people. He graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore and subsequently did his post-graduation in Internal Medicine before specializing in Geriatric Medicine. Before joining as a consultant in Geriatric Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore, he worked at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Adelaide, South Australia and co-founded the Division of Geriatric Medicine at St John’s Medical college, Bangalore. He pioneered to initiate the Geriatric Home Care services, a first such service in Kerala at Jubilee Mission Medical College and Research Institute, Thrissur, where he last served as the Head of the Department, and Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine. Dr Steve is affiliated to the Alzheimer’s and Related Disorders Society of India (ARDSI) and has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Indian Academy of Geriatrics since 2018. He is also a faculty of the PHFI (Public Health Foundation of India ) for the Certificate Course in Integrated Geriatric Medicine. He also serves as an expert in DEMclinic – a cognitive screening portal for Dementia care, under the Nightingale’s Medical Trust, Bangalore. His research areas of interests are Falls prevention, Dementia, Multiple comorbidity management and perioperative care and rehabilitation and has various national publications to his credit. He was a recipient of the Double Helical – National Health award for his contribution to the field of Geriatrics in 2018, at New Delhi. He is also currently pursuing a PhD in Frailty and Dementia under the Yenepoya University, Mangalore. He is a blogger and has authored “The Patient who Doctored me” and “The Valence of Silver” which is available on Amazon.
